The story
Decisions behind the delivery
01Browse, check out, and follow the order
I built a product catalogue with search, category browsing, product pages, and guest checkout. Customers can pay by card through Genie Business or choose cash on delivery, then track an order without creating an account. PDF receipts and transactional emails support the journey after checkout.
02Connecting payment, stock, and order state
Checkout connects PostgreSQL transactions with Redis-backed cart and payment sessions. The API processes payment webhooks, handles refunds, and restores stock when orders are cancelled or payment sessions expire. Order and payment statuses remain separate so the administration workflow can account for both card payments and cash on delivery.
03A working control room for the business
The React admin portal supports product and inventory management, offers, orders, and refund requests. Order-state controls guide fulfilment, while reporting accounts for refunds. The client can also manage storefront content, including tips and testimonials, through the same portal.
04Finishing with an operable system
I deployed the services with Docker and GitHub Actions and prepared the client handover. The documentation covers the architecture, administration, customer flows, deployment, configuration, and maintenance. The final delivery was completed in June 2026 after a 12-week engagement.
